1976 Yamaha DT400 for sale in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin

$1,000

1976 Yamaha DT400. Less than 1000 miles on the fresh bore, piston, and rings. This vintage bike starts on the first kick every time. If you put a full stroke and push all of the way through. I removed the oil injector pump only out of fear that when it quits, the rider will not know until it?s too late. I use pre mix for peace of mind. She will come with a fresh front tire- still has the injection nipples on it. A worn but usable rear as well as a complete set (rims, tubes, tires) of AMA legal ice tires. The chain and both sprockets are less than a year old- for the ice you would have to swap the rear sprocket onto the ice rim or buy a bigger one and get more front wheel off the ground action on the ice.
I bought four of these DT400?s years ago and made one complete OEM restoration bike that I sold two years ago. With the three parts bikes left over I made this bike, completely OEM and street legal. I had to buy the consumables like the tires, chains, sprockets, oil etc. But the bike has been re built by me from the ground up. There are zero cross threaded bolts, zero rounded off fasteners etc. There is no goop replacing gaskets (I found a guy that makes gaskets from a scan of your old one or a scan of the part) I ran a tap through all of the threaded holes and this bike is easy to wrench on now. Everything except for the rear axle can be serviced with a ? drive socket set. The carbs are non- leaking and jetted a little rich from the rebuild brake-in and for the cold days on the ice. She will run like a champ and she has fresh bearings, grease, and seals.
I have three children. I want to sell this in order to get them a motor bike so that they can come along riding with me and learn to enjoy this sport with their father. Also it will help me to get out more as I won?t have to leave my wife home with all three offspring while I ?go have fun?
I think that a fair price for a titled, street legal, dual sport, fresh motored bike can be no less than $1000. Up here in Wisconsin, having ice tires makes the riding season sooooo much longer too. It?s a helva bonus to have the ice tires already mounted on rims because spooning them on every year is bad for the tires and hell on your knuckles.
Right now she is dressed in off road only mode. All of the lights etc. are in a box where I put them as I dressed her down for the trails and ice.
I?d be willing to trade for an 80 or 100cc bike for my children straight up.
